Biography
Guy

Legendary group Guy is credited with starting the New Jack Swing style that merged R&B with hip-hop, and it ruled the style with an amazing 11 Top 25 hits from 1988-92, including "Do Me Right," "I Like," "Let's Chill," "Groove Me" and "I Wanna Get With You."

But the influence of Guy and lead singer Aaron Hall went far beyond. Hall had six Top 40 R&B hits of his own, including the No. 1 "Don't Be Afraid" in 1992. Hall also wrote and produced for movie soundtracks, including "Alpha Dog" and "Fried Green Tomatoes," and with fellow Guy member Teddy Riley wrote and produced for Johnny Kemp ("Just Got Paid") and Bobby Brown ("My Prerogative"). Guy also contributed songs to the soundtracks of "Do the Right Thing" and "New Jack City."

Aaron Hall released his solo debut, The Truth, in 1993; brother Damion followed in 1994 with Straight to the Point.  In 1994, Aaron's "I Miss You" received best RB/Soul or Rap Music Video at the Soul Train Music Awards.

Guy reunited in 1999, issuing Guy III. In 2006, Aaron, Damion and Teddy reunited for the New Jack Reunion Tour and again in 2009 to perform at the BET Awards. In February 2011, fans of New Jack Swing applauded a performance by Aaron and Damion at the 4th annual BET Honors, and the TV One Black History month special "Way Black When."
